14 June 2016 - Keeping Healthy

We all would like to keep healthy as we age, and this one looks to be a good for delaying the effects of age on the body.  Some say it's a vitamin or should be, and an antioxidant. It's a big long name, pyrroloquinoline quinone known as PQQ, and is often paired with Co-enzyme Q10 in the supplement form. It helps us have healthy mitochondria cells, and as with a lot of things, these will deplete, or not be so healthy, as we get older. It is very important to keep them healthy as they affect our metabolism and aging.

Yes! you can get this in supplements from the US. It's a bit slow in coming to Australia, as per usual.

However there are many foods which are rich in PQQ such as parsley, green peppers, kiwi fruit, papaya and tofu.

There are many more as per this table. Sourced from NCBI website.

Have you included a good proportion of these foods into your diet?

Have noticed I certainly have, instinctively. Also I have found that some vigorous jogging to the count of 30, on an exercise trampoline, does wonders for my mitochondria and energy flow. Good health!
