7 August 2010 - Happy Plant flowering

What an amazing experience this has been! A couple of weeks
ago my Happy Plant, which is taller than me by far, started forming a bud at the top. Slowly buds started emerging, until there was a whole line of what looked like white finger clusters, oozing drops of sticky liquid. I came home mid afternoon yesterday and noticed that these clusters were turning brown on the tips. Thinking to myself, is this all there is to Happy Plant flowering? I was so surprised to see, at just before sunset, all these little buds opening up into beautiful white flowers, with the most wonderful scent. This morning they are all closed up again so it will be interesting to see if they open up again at dusk this evening.

Had left my digital camera at work so got out my IPod to take a movie of the flowering. This is a snapshot from the video I took of it.

I am lead to believe that once a Happy Plant flowers, their leaves will die off. Someone suggested that the plant, once having flowered, be cut back close to the base for it to re-sprout. So will give this a go. Already the other three plants in the same pot are starting to race away as big and beautiful is ending it's days. And what a spectacular end. The scent from the flowers is a very heady musk type which seems to linger on.

The signature of the flowers being white would align with the crown chakra, and my feeling is that they are very soothing to the mind. Possibly allowing pathway connections in the brain, helping with mental enlightenment.

Addendum to this blog entry, dated 11 Feb 2012... Happy Plant did look a little frail for a while after this mighty flowering. Didn't have the heart to cut it back afterwards, but wondered if it would die back, as some said it would.

Hurrah! it didn't, after an initial period it perked right up and kept on growing. Now it is at least 500mm higher from the flowering point. Amazing!
